Ho Chi Minh City is hot and humid all year, so many travellers think about waxing before a trip. With swimwear and light clothes on the way, it is a natural worry. But “Can I get it done while travelling?”, “When is the best time?” and “What should I be careful about afterwards?” are not easy questions the first time. This guide is based on the questions Linh Lan Waxing in District 1, Saigon hears most often, for both waxing and laser hair removal.

01

Can I get waxed while travelling?

Yes. The key is to leave some room in your schedule. Skin can be temporarily sensitive right after waxing, so long sun exposure or heavy sweating right afterwards can be uncomfortable.

We usually suggest planning like this.

  • Avoid the time right before beach, pool or golf days with lots of sun and sweat
  • Pick a day with downtime afterwards, such as the afternoon of your first or second day
  • Do not book right before a long journey, including a flight

It may depend on your skin, any medication you take and recent treatments, so please tell us about any concerns when you book.

02

When is the best time?

Hair length matters most. If hair is too short, wax cannot grip it.

From our experience, when hair is at least 0.5 cm long, wax removes it from the root more easily. If you shave often, stop shaving a few days before your trip.

Many people also move their date around their period, as skin can be more sensitive then. If it overlaps with your trip, ask us when you book.

How Linh Lan works

  • Walk-ins are welcome (you may need to wait if we are fully booked), open daily 10:30–20:00.
  • Strips for larger areas such as arms and legs to keep treatment quick, and hard wax for small, sensitive areas such as the bikini line, Brazilian and beard. We decide by area and your situation.
  • Cooling air to finish: Skin may be irritated right after waxing, so we blow cooling air (about -30°C) on the treated area. In our experience, with hard wax redness settles faster and the skin feels more even as pores tighten. Strip waxing also uses cooling air if the skin is irritated, and areas that are rarely irritated, such as calves, may only be moisturised. We decide by your skin. (Skin reactions vary from person to person.)
  • Therapists wear masks and medical-grade gloves and use single-use sticks. Skin is wiped with alcohol and tools are kept in a UV steriliser.
  • We serve both women and men.
  • We have two treatment beds, so couples or friends can be treated together. The areas are divided by a curtain.
  • Korean is supported with a translator. Message us before booking on KakaoTalk (ID: linhlanwaxing), Zalo or WhatsApp (+84 705 671 153).

05

Aftercare (more important while travelling)

These are the methods we recommend from our experience. Skin varies, so contact the salon that treated you if anything feels wrong.

  • Avoid saunas, steam rooms, hot baths and intense exercise on the day.
  • Sun: Do not expose the area to strong sun for long. Cover it with clothes if needed.
  • Pools and the sea: Avoid right after, and decide after at least a day based on your skin.
  • Friction: Avoid tight clothes or clothes that trap sweat right after.
  • Do not rub or scrub the area.
