Travellers in Ho Chi Minh City sometimes ask us, “Is it okay to get waxed in Vietnam?” Our answer takes a little longer than yes. Waxing in Vietnam has changed a lot in recent years, and part of that change comes from small habits learned in waxing shops abroad. If waxing is part of your routine, one quiet hour in District 1 can become a stop on your trip.
Looking for a waxing shop while travelling
A trip to a warm country often means beaches, pools and light clothes. Maybe there was no time to book before you left, or your hair has grown back mid-trip. Many visitors end up looking for waxing in Saigon while they are here.
The worries of waxing somewhere new
Trusting your skin to a shop in an unfamiliar city is not easy. You may not know what wax is used, how the tools are handled, or how the session will go. For sensitive areas, the hesitation is even stronger. We understand that feeling well.

Our choice: visiting other shops as customers
We feel waxing in Vietnam has improved a great deal over the last few years, partly because shops here have made the effort to see how others work and bring the good parts home.
Linh Lan Waxing has done the same. Whenever we travel, we visit a local waxing shop as customers, get waxed ourselves, take notes on what felt good, and then adapt it to our own shop. Some things you only notice when you are the one lying on the bed.

What changed because of it
- Wax chosen by area. Hard wax for small or sensitive areas such as the bikini line and face; strip wax for larger areas such as arms and legs.
- Single-use tools. Wooden sticks and medical gloves are used once. Other tools are cleaned after every client and stored clean.
- A skin check first. We look for irritation or cuts before we start. If anything feels uncomfortable, just tell us and we will pause.
- Calming the skin afterwards. If your skin looks irritated after waxing, our staff can use a cooling air machine (around -30°C) to help calm it.
- Honest expectations. Waxing can sting or hurt, and how it feels depends on the area and on you. We do not promise it will not hurt.

An hour in District 1
Linh Lan Waxing is on Pasteur Street in District 1. Sessions take place in a quiet room with two beds separated by a curtain. We take our time, and we do not push extra treatments or packages. Between a coffee and a walk, an hour is usually enough.
The memories you bring home from a trip are not only views and food. If waxing is part of how you look after yourself, we hope a calm hour in Saigon becomes one small scene of your journey.
