Many people look into Brazilian laser hair removal after finding waxing painful or being bothered by ingrown hairs (hairs that grow back into the skin). This guide from Linh Lan Waxing in District 1, Saigon, where we offer both waxing and diode laser, explains the differences between waxing and laser, preparation, precautions and what the treatment involves. Results and skin reactions vary from person to person.

Brazilian waxing vs laser hair removal: what is the difference?

Waxing is repeated each time hair grows back, while laser is a series of sessions that aims to make hair finer and sparser. Neither is simply better. What matters is choosing the method that suits your skin, schedule and budget.

Preparation and precautions

  • Trim the hair: Laser heat reacts to hair left on the surface, so shave cleanly before your visit. Long hair left on can raise the chance of skin irritation or burns.
  • Cuts and inflammation: If there is a cut or inflamed skin in the area, we treat after it has healed.
  • Tanning and sun: If your skin is sunburnt or tanned, the reaction can be stronger, so tell us beforehand.
  • If you are pregnant or planning to be, please talk to us before booking.
  • On the day: The area may feel warm, so avoid saunas, hot baths and intense exercise.

Possible reactions: Redness, warmth and, rarely, blisters or pigment changes. We soothe the skin after treatment. Please contact us if anything feels wrong.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Will one session remove all the hair?

Laser is generally done over several sessions. The number and gaps depend on the area and your hair. We explain this at your consultation.

Does laser hurt?

You may feel stinging or warmth, and it varies by person. We use cooling air before and after.

Can I combine waxing and laser?

It depends on your schedule and skin. Laser is done on short hair, so ask us about the order if you want to use both.
